ARMO Meeting Minutes
H.264
Chun-Chieh
- working on thesis. Prepared first draft of thesis and submitted to Arvind
- running simulation using verilog. Simulation takes a long time
- reduced cycle count from 26 million to 22 million. About 1.2 cycles/pixel
Daniel
- changing macroblock ordering
- not only processing diagonal blocks, but also consecutive
- synthesizing verilog to estimate power
- verifying to make sure it does not violate dependency
802.11a
Alfred
- RX works at RTL level, but there seems to be problem at gate level. Timing is violated.
- Daniel suggest that possible cause could be register initializtion
- Arvind raised concerns about slow progress of RX design
- Al is not just implementing basic functionality to get RX running. He is putting more effort on parallelism and design optimization.
- More effort is spent on parameterizing the OFDM design
- Alfred will focus on two things: generalizing OFDM components, writing a paper for memocode
- Alfred and Gopal will meet again next week to discuss about OFDM parameterization
SMASH
- formalizing transcator scheduling problem
- analyzing simultaneous resource sharing problem
- using transactor implementation of JPEG
- fixing linux bootup problems on qemu arm simulator
Tech Day
- 2 posters already submitted
- h.264 demo, with inter-prediction on larger frame buffer
- 802.11 fpga part is not done yet. Alfred will try to work on this next week. If we have the loopback test ready by 19th we can show a demo
NRCC-MIT Jan 29th meeting
- total 40 min presentation for ARMO
- overview presentation
- H.264 (Chun-Chieh and Daniel)
